Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumpling Restaurant To Open In Stamford
This represents the acclaimed restaurant's first Connecticut location.
STAMFORD, CT — Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, the acclaimed Shanghainese soup dumpling restaurant that began in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., in 2006, will open its first Connecticut location at the Stamford Town Center.
The restaurant will take up the space formerly occupied by Kona Grill at 100 Grerock Place. An opening date has not yet been announced.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, a Michelin-recognized restaurant, as they have a tremendous following for their delicious Shanghainese dumplings and bao buns," Stamford Town Center General Manager Dan Stolzenbach told Patch.

Signature dishes include crab and pork soup dumplings, steamed buns and Shanghainese dim sum, according to the restaurant's website. Other popular dishes include pan-fried crispy noodles, fried rice cakes, scallion pancakes with sliced beef, fish fillet and picked cabbage noodle soup, as well as pan-fried dumplings.

"Nan Xiang is the first choice for local Chinese immigrants who are craving for authentic Northern Chinese food, Jiangsu & Zhejiang cuisine," the restaurant's website says. "A lot of western diners also visit Nan Xiang to experience our famous dishes recommend by various publications and food bloggers. Welcome to Nan Xiang, we provide the most original flavors from China."
For nine straight years from 2009 to 2017, Nan Xiang was selected as a Michelin-recommended restaurant for Shanghainese cuisine. It has also been written up in publications such as New York Magazine, Gothamist and more.
There are existing Nan Xiang restaurants in Flushing, Manhattan and Cherry Hill, N.J.
Along with the Stamford Town Center, the restaurant is planning new locations for Westbury, N.Y.; East Rutherford, N.J.; King of Prussia, Pa.; and Pittsburgh, Pa.
