NBC Sports To Broadcast Winter Olympics From Stamford HQ
Citing COVID-19 concerns, NBC Sports will broadcast the majority of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games from Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — Due to concerns about COVID-19, NBC Sports will broadcast the majority of the Beijing Winter Olympics from its Stamford headquarters.
In a statement to Patch, an NBC Sports spokesperson said the announce teams for the Olympics, including figure skating, will be calling events from the Stamford studios at 1 Blachley Road.
"We’ll still have a large presence on the ground in Beijing and our coverage of everything will be first rate as usual, but our plans are evolving by the day as they are for most media companies covering the Olympics," the spokesperson said.

This will be the second straight Olympic Games in which NBC broadcasters will work out of Stamford.
However, NBC Sports' Mike Tirico will anchor the Olympic primetime show in Beijing from Thursday, Feb. 3 through Thursday, Feb. 10 before flying back to Los Angeles where he’ll continue his Olympic hosting on Feb. 11 from a special set outside SoFi Stadium, the site of Super Bowl LVI, according to a news release from NBC Sports.

Tirico will then host a five-hour Super Bowl LVI Pregame Show on Sunday, Feb. 13.
China is currently dealing with an outbreak of the highly contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus, which has led to lockdowns due to the country's zero-tolerance policy when it comes to COVID-19.
The New York Times reported earlier this week that the Beijing 2022 organizing committee ended ticket sales to the public for Olympic events "to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators."
