Obituary: Helene T. (Smeriglio) Romano, 72, of Stamford
Helene worked at Anthony's Beauty Salon in Cos Cob, sold Avon for many years and cherished spending time with loved ones.
STAMFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Helene T. (Smeriglio) Romano, 72, of Stamford, died peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021 at The Connecticut Hospice.
She was the beloved wife of Arthur J. Romano Jr. Born in Stamford, November 8, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Ottaviano) Smeriglio.
Helene graduated J.M. Wright Technical School with honors.
She worked at Anthony's Beauty Salon in Cos Cob prior to starting her family and also sold Avon for over 25 years. She taught religious education at St. Cecilla's Church in Stamford for many years.
Most of all, Helene enjoyed spending time with her family; she loved taking trips to Atlantic City or anywhere to be out with them.
She loved to crochet to make gifts for friends and family and loved every holiday, especially Christmas which was very important to her; she enjoyed decorating the whole house, baking, cooking and of course, hosting Christmas dinner.
In addition to her husband Arthur, she is survived by her children, Pamela Romano of Stamford and Robert Romano of Wallingford. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis and Edward Smeriglio.
Helene’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Friday, November 26th, from 9:30 – 10:45am when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.
