Over 100 New Teachers Coming To Stamford Classrooms This Year

Newly-hired teachers represent 7 percent of all certified educators working for Stamford Public Schools, the school district said.

STAMFORD, CT — School in Stamford starts on Wednesday, and this year, there will be 113 new teachers joining classrooms across the district.

According to Stamford Public Schools, 43 are first-year teachers, including eight former SPS paraeducators who are beginning their teaching careers.

The school district says 25 teachers are SPS graduates (18 from Stamford High School, five from Westhill High School, and two from the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering.

Additionally, two first-year teachers were part of the first cohort of the SPS Educators Rising Program that was introduced in 2019-2020.
