Police Officer Charged with Assaulting Woman in Stamford
The victim claimed she was strangled by her ex-boyfriend who is a police officer in Rockland County, NY.
STAMFORD, CT - A Rockland County, NY police officer reportedly is facing charges that he strangled and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend in Stamford over the weekend.
Stamford Police say the woman went to police headquarters shortly before midnight Sunday claiming that her ex-boyfriend had just strangled her and destroyed her phone to stop her from calling police , according to The Advocate.
The victim, who had injuries, claimed William Oliver, 45, had access to guns and was a 10-year veteran of the Clarkstown, NY Police Department.

According to the newspaper, the suspect entered her apartment in the Springdale neighborhood of the city and after a time, began to strangle her and assaulted her. She also claimed Oliver threatened to kill her.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Oliver who was charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary, strangulation and threatening, and single counts of unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and interfering with an emergency call. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond, according to The Advocate story that can be found here.
