Popular NYC-Based Smash Burger Chain To Open Stamford Location

This represents the brand's first Connecticut location

STAMFORD, CT — Residents will have another option when it comes to satisfying a crave for a juicy smash burger in Stamford.

According to an announcement from Royal Properties Inc., 7th Street Burger, the popular New York City-based smash burger chain, will open within ShopRite Plaza at 2000 W. Main St. This will represent the brand's first Connecticut location.

7th Street Burger recently signed a long-term lease for 1,491 square feet within the shopping center near the Stamford/Old Greenwich border. It's unclear when exactly the location will open its doors.

"7th Street Burger will be a fantastic addition to ShopRite Plaza. The concept has an incredible following, and we’re excited to bring their energy and great food to this high-traffic shopping center," said Jeff Kintzer, Principal of Royal Properties, in a news release.

Kintzer and Caroline Kintzer represented the landlord in the leasing transaction, and Peter Levine of Charter Realty represented the tenant.

The first 7th Street Burger location opened in the East Village of New York City in June 2021, and since then, 22 additional storefronts have opened in New York City, along with a New Jersey location and two outposts in the Washington, D.C. area.

The business was co-founded by two childhood friends, Kevin Rezvani and Paras Jain.

"We bring a truly simple menu, with top quality ingredients, and value-focused products to our customers. Our dedication to what we know best and our commitment to excellence across our locations allows our brand to grow authentically and organically in the hearts of our customers," the business's website says.

Smash burgers have caught on in popularity in recent years. A smash burger is made by smashing a meat patty on the grill to create a crispy outer crust while maintaining a juicy center.

"Our house sauce brings the whole experience to the next level!" 7th Street Burger says.

The single smash burger features a 100 percent beef burger served with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles and house sauce on a Martin's potato bun.

There is also a spicy jalapeño cheeseburger, which has American cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños and ghost pepper sauce.

Customers can also order double-patty versions, and complete their meals with a side of fries - either a regular fries, loaded beef fries, or spicy jalapeño loaded beef fries.

For those who don't eat meat, "impossible" vegetarian burgers are available.

The "Lucky Cat" that is seen on the brand's menus and merchandise can be traced to Rezvani's childhood and working at his grandfather's bakery in Japan. The cat symbolized good fortune, hospitality, and everyday hustle, the burger chain's website notes.

"Today, it lives on at 7th Street Burger as a quiet reminder of where we came from—and what we bring to the grill every day."
