Rebuilding a Community Home in Stamford

Nearly 30 Charter Communications and Stamford Police Association volunteers, along with Rebuilding Together Hartford, will be in Stamford this weekend to help renovate an Always Reaching for Independence (ARI) community residence.

This event is part of Charter’s national philanthropic initiative, Charter our Community, a program that seeks to improve 25,000 unsafe and unhealthy homes in the Charter footprint by 2020. In partnership with Rebuilding Together, Charter our Community provides critical home repairs to low-income homeowners.

ARI operates several community living residences in the Stamford and Ridgefield communities. ARI’s mission is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities and their families by enabling them to achieve their fullest potential at home, at work and in the community.

By providing critical repairs, Charter, the Stamford Police Association and Rebuilding Together will help transform the lives of the ARI home’s nine residents. Charter is providing a financial contribution and 15 volunteers to work alongside 15 volunteers from the Stamford Police Association. Renovations will include painting, installation of handrails and stair treads, replacing kitchen hardware and adding insulation.

“Throughout 2015, our inaugural year of the Charter our Community program, we’ve improved the livelihoods of hundreds of homeowners throughout the United States and offered opportunities for our employees to strengthen the communities in which we live and work,” said Alex Dudley, Senior Vice President, Communications at Charter. “This is our second Charter our Community initiative in Stamford – where our headquarters are located - and our employees are thrilled to work alongside the Stamford Police Association.”

“The men and women of the Stamford Police Association have a long history of involvement in our community,” said Stamford Police Association President Sean Boeger. “Our members have previously volunteered their time for and have made donations to ARI – including for the past 50 years, delivering holiday gifts to the developmentally disabled teens and adults who participate in the program. We’re looking forward to continuing our connection with ARI through this event with Charter.”
