There's a ton of cool stuff going on in Stamford and the surrounding areas today (Hi, Prince Harry), but there's nothing more special than inspiring a child's creativity.
At Roxbury Elementary School, the Roxbury Organization of Parents and Educators are hosting a book, art & science fair Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
If you know a little one to whom you want to pass on some inspiration, bring them to 751 West Hill Road. In addition to the kids' projects, there will be exhibits by Soundwaters, Stamford Mineralogical Society, New Haven Mineral Club, and Stamford Museum & Nature Center.
"The kids are demonstrating and explaining these projects they've worked so hard on," parent volunteerCarmen Glenn said. "These hands-on science activities and chemistry exhibitions really keep them engaged."
In addition to all the other expos, there's also a bake sale to fundraise for the Odyssey of the Mind team, which is heading to Michigan for World Finals at the end of May.
A preview of some of the projects include Hannah Tedesco, in fifth grade, who showed off her fertilizer test project. Kameron McCarthy, also in fifth, built a functioning motor. Kai Rossetti, a shark-lover in first grade, examines why the beasts get so many teeth and why they fall out so often.
