Stamford Announces Changes For Atlantic & Henry Intersection Improvements Project

The changes are announced in accordance with the City of Stamford and the Connecticut Department of Transportation Policy.

From the City of Stamford: In accordance with the City of Stamford and the Connecticut Department of Transportation Policy on Public Outreach process, the City of Stamford is announcing changes to the project (#135-320) design which was presented at a Public Information Meeting on August 8, 2013 in the Lathon Wider Community Center. The significant difference between the plan presented at the meeting with off-street parking and the final plan the redesigned parking as curbside parking along Henry Street in the same vicinity.

As presented at the August 2013 Public Info Meeting, the excess property at 740 Henry Street was conceptually planned to accommodate seven parking spaces. Through refinement of the design, it was determined that the excess property could only accommodate a total of four parking spaces. However, due to the extremely close proximity of the parking area driveway to the intersection with Atlantic Street, it has also been decided that traffic safety and operations in this area would be compromised. Therefore, the design has been changed to eliminate the off-street parking and provide an alternative design with seven on-street (curbside) spaces along Henry Street.

Revised design plans are available for public inspection at the City of Stamford, Traffic Engineering Office located on the 7th Floor of 888 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
