Stamford Assault Suspect Arrested
The victim suffered a fractured skull after being struck in the head three times with a whiskey bottle, according to police.

A Stamford man has been arrested in connection with an assault that left the victim with “severe head trauma” including a fractured skull, according to Stamford Police.
It was in the early morning hours of Nov. 21 when Stamford Police responded to the area of Myrtle Avenue and Gregory Street on a report that a man was suffering from severe head trauma from an assault, according to a police report.
It was determined that the 27-year-old man was assaulted with a bottle by a male known to him as “Jose,” police said.

The victim said that “Jose,” who he know from prior employment together gave him a ride and that during the ride, they became embroiled in an argument, according to the report.
The suspect reportedly pulled over on Myrtle Avenue and after the pair exited the vehicle, “’Jose’ struck him three times with a Jameson Whiskey bottle. The victim was transported to Stamford Hospital for treatment and spent three days in ICU with a skull fracture and the injury took numerous staples and sutures to close the wounds,” according to police.

Detectives obtained video and statements from all involved and were able to identify “Jose” as Jose Torres, 27, of 14 Relay Pl., Stamford, and applied for an arrest warrant charging him with second-degree assault.
Police said that Torres was arrested without incident on Jan. 20 at his current place of employment in Stamford. He was processed and a $60,000 bond was levied on Torres.
