Stamford DMV Office Officially Relocates, Simmons Says
Mayor Caroline Simmons mentioned the move on Aug. 1 in her monthly video message to the community.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Department of Motor Vehicles has officially relocated to the Stamford Government Center at 888 Washington Blvd. from the Lathon Wider Community Center, according to Mayor Caroline Simmons.
Simmons mentioned the move on Aug. 1 in her monthly video message to the community.
"This central location offers convenient access and is part of a larger plan to consolidate key services into one place," Simmons said. "Now whether you need a permit or need to pay taxes, or handle DMV business, it's all available in one central, accessible location. You can visit ct.gov/dmv to check out the operating hours and book an appointment."

Located at 137 Henry St., the Lathon Wider Community Center closed earlier in early January after flooding was discovered in the basement.
Immediately after the closure, customers with existing appointments in Stamford were directed to the Norwalk office, or they could have rescheduled for a later date.

Shaun M. Formica, the director of communications for Connecticut Motor Vehicles, told Patch there are no plans to relocate again at this time.
It's unclear when the Lathon Wider Community Center will reopen.
The site was previously used as a community school as early as 1892, the city's website notes. The current building was built in 1911, "which includes the symmetrical façade on Henry Street and the main character-defining elements of the building."
Other tenants in the building, including a Stamford health clinic and a branch of Ferguson Library, have temporarily relocated.
