Stamford Doctor Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The case involved the death of a baby born after IUD was removed from mother.

Stamford obstetrician reportedly has settled a lawsuit brought by a woman who claimed the physician caused the death of her baby while removing an intrauterine device from the mother.

Dr. Corrinne de Cholnoky agreed to an undisclosed settlement of the wrongful death suit brought by the baby’s parents as the case was about to go to a jury trial in Superior Court Court in Bridgeport, according to The Advocate.

The case involved a mother who had gone to de Cholnoky in 2011 and asked that she remove the IUD device de Cholnoky had previously inserted into the mother, because she had not had a menstrual period in five months, according to the report. deCholnoky removed the IUD without performing a pregnancy test and apparently ruptured the fetal membrane during the process.
