Stamford FC U12 Boys Premier Team Wins Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic

The boys advance to second in the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association state rankings.

From SYSL: The Stamford Youth Soccer League’s (SYSL) Stamford FC U12 Boys Premier team defeated three premier teams from New York and one from Connecticut, to win the Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic 2017 held March 3-5, 2017. In the final game, the Stamford FC U12 Boys Premier (CT rank #5) defeated Everton America CT 2005 Boys NPL Blue (CT rank #1) with a final score of 4-2, to become the #2 ranked team in the State of Connecticut.

The Stamford FC team, comprised exclusively of players who live in Stamford, went undefeated in the tournament, playing games at Tibbetts Brook Park, in Yonkers, in frigid 18 degree weather, howling winds and snow flurries. Stamford FC competed on Saturday and Sunday, in a field of seven premier teams, including Albertson Academy (NY rank #5), NY Elite FC (NY), Beachside White (CT), Downtown United Soccer Club B2005 Orange (NY), NY Hota Bavarians NPL 05, Manhattan SC Freedom Blue, and Everton America (CT).

Members of the Stamford Youth Soccer League’s Stamford FC U12 Boys Premier Team who played in the Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic 2017, include: William Anderson, Lyon Atiencia, Sebastian Caltenco, Massimo Costa, Johnny Couch, Lucas Fernandez Del Valle, Darsein Gabriel, Oscar Gonzalez, Will Herckis, Edwin Medina, Antonio Ninivaggi, Arian Recinos, Sebastian Ortiz, and Luke Vander Kolk.

The final scores were: Stamford FC vs. DUSC (7-0), Stamford FC vs. Hota Bavarians (7-3), Stamford FC vs. Manhattan Freedom (6-1), and in the finals, Stamford FC defeated Everton America (4-2). Jason Segovia, of Quality Touch Soccer Academy, coached the team with John Anderson as volunteer assistant coach. Christina Vander Kolk is the team’s manager. Heading into the spring 2017 season, the Stamford FC U12 boys will play in the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Elite League.

At halftime, with freezing temperatures, howling winds and snow flurries, the Stamford FC U12 Boys Premier get a talk from Coach Jason Segovia, of Quality Touch Soccer Academy.

The Stamford FC ended their spring and fall 2016 seasons undefeated. Before turning premier in the spring of 2015, the then Stamford Hurricanes White U11 Boys won the fall 2015 Connecticut Cup, which fielded 80 teams. In League play, the Stamford Hurricanes finished their fall 2015 season in first place with a 9-1-0 record. A majority of the 14 players on the Stamford FC U12 Boys team have played together since U9, with their Head Coach, Jason Segovia, of Quality Touch Soccer Academy, which provides exclusive professional training to the SYSL.

Since 2015, under the coaching of Quality Touch Soccer Academy (QTSA), SYSL has developed four elite boys teams (U12, U14, U18, U20), and two premier boys teams (U13, U18). In addition, there are 29 boys and girls professionally coached travel teams from U8 through U20. There are approximately 2,000 boys and girls who participate in house leagues for beginners and on developmental, travel, premier and elite teams.

Quality Touch Soccer Academy (formerly Quickstrike FC Stamford) was founded in 2005, and provides training exclusively to the Stamford Youth Soccer League.
