Stamford Fire Fighters New Union Board Members Take Office

The 275 members of IAFF Local 786 also reelected long-serving union president Brendan Keatley.

From the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association: The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters held their union elections in December 2016, returning many of the organization’s leaders. The 275 members of IAFF Local 786 reelected long-serving union president Brendan Keatley along with Vice-President D.J. Davis, Secretary Victor Rella, Treasurer Charles Cackowski and Executive Board Members Tom Gloerson, Todd Dicine and Kyle Houser. Their terms begin on January 1st , 2017.

“Our union’s top priority is the health and safety of all of our professional fire fighters and the citizens of the city we are sworn to protect,” said Brendan Keatley. “On a daily basis we are focused on serious issues that impact Stamford Professional Fire Fighters and their ability to provide lifesaving fire, rescue and emergency medical services in all corners of Connecticut’s third largest city. I thank my fellow Stamford fire fighters and fire officers for the confidence they have put in the Local 786 Executive Board. We look forward to working proactively with the city and state on critical issues that impact fire fighters and the citizens of Stamford.”

Brendan Keatley has been Local 786’s president since 2005 and a member of the board since 1999; he is assigned to the Shippan Fire Station as the assigned apparatus driver.

One new member was elected to the union’s board, Brian Munger, a fire fighter since 2008 and a former member of the Stamford Board of Representatives, is assigned to the Central Fire Station on Main Street.

Paul Anderson was elected to the post of Legislative Representative, Anderson, a Stamford fire fighter since 2008 assigned to the Woodside Fire Station, previously served on the Local 786 Executive Board. Anderson also serves on the Stamford Fire Fighters Pension Board. His focus will be on upcoming state and local elections and their impact on professional fire fighters.
