Patients are assessed for a variety of health conditions and offered testing options. Clinicians review genetic test results with patients and offer support and counsel to help individuals make informed decisions to best support their health. Inheriting a genetic mutation leads to an increased risk of breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
The Center treats a variety of genetic mutations including BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, CHEK2, MSH2, CDH2, BRIP 1, RAD51C, ATM, TP53, MLH1 and more.
Other features of the Comprehensive Center for BRCA & Genetic Health include nurse navigators to coordinate care including scheduling screenings and facilitating appointments, providing preventative screening recommendations based on risk and establishing future screening planning. Patients can access cutting-edge clinical trials through Stamford Health’s collaboration with Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
Those who require surgery benefit from the latest advances in risk reducing surgical techniques, such as nipple sparing mastectomies, with direct to implant reconstruction, as well as autologous reconstruction.
