It was a night of hometown teams facing off Wednesday when Stamford High School's baseball and softball teams faced off against their respective rival counterparts from Westhill High School.
The home teams walked away winners in both instances, with Westhill hosting the softball game and Stamford, the baseball game. Westhill softball ended the game on top 8 to 2, while the boys at Stamford High came away with a win in dramatic fashion.
In the sixth inning, Westhill's baseball team tied the game up at 3-all, and could've had more on a bases-loaded showdown, but Stamford held them off. At Stamford's next bat, they took the lead back with two runs, bringing the score to 5 to 3.
Stamford High held off Westhill through the seventh inning, and ended the game on an impressive catch down the first base line to out the batter and diving tag at first base to catch the runner before he could get back. Watch the final outs above.
