Stamford Man Accused Of Firing Gunshot During Altercation: Police
The incident occurred Wednesday evening on West Main Street, according to authorities.

STAMFORD, CT — A 29-year-old Stamford man was arrested on a host of weapons and related charges Wednesday night, after police said that he fired a gunshot into the air during an altercation on West Main Street in Stamford, Patch has learned.
No injuries were reported in the 11 p.m. incident, which began as a dispute on the street.
"The suspect obtained a gun, threatened people with it, and fired a shot into the air," Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch.

Several people called police after the gunshot was fired, and the suspect, Fidencio Lopez-Yescas, was found a short while later, passed out on his couch, Conklin said. Lopez-Yescas appeared to have been drinking heavily, Conklin added.
Police recovered a 9mm handgun with an illegal 17-round magazine near Lopez-Yescas, and also found a shell casing at the scene.

Lopez-Yescas was charged with the following:
- Carrying pistol without permit
- Possession of a large-capacity magazine
- Carrying firearm while under the influence of alcohol
- 2nd degree threatening
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm
- 2nd degree Breach of peace
- 1st degree Reckless endangerment
Also arrested at the scene was Stamford resident Rudy Barrientos-Avila, 36, who police said was a friend of Lopez-Yescas.
Barrientos-Avila was charged with breach of peace, and possession of narcotics, after Conklin said that officers found 1.3 grams of powdered cocaine in his possession. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court at a later date.
Lopez-Yescas is being held in lieu of bail of $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 9.
