Stamford Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Cocaine Trafficking

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Connecticut District announced Wednesday the sentencing of a Greek immigrant last residing in Stamford to a year-and-a-half in federal prison for his role in trafficking cocaine. 

According to the office, Dimitrios Karipidis, 54, a citizen of Greece, was sentenced to an additional three months of supervised release after his 18-month imprisonment. 

Karipidis was arrested in June 2012 following a year-long investigation by the DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Norwalk Police Department. He was allegedly trafficking oxycodone, cocaine and marijuana throughout Fairfield County. 

He was arrested after a court-authorized wiretap indicted Karipidis as he was having discussions involving the distribution of cocaine. He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. He faces deportation at the end of his sentence. 

Additionally, 16 other individuals have been charged as a result of the investigation.
