Stamford To Mark 35th Anniversary Of Americans With Disabilities Act

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990 by President George H.W. Bush.

STAMFORD, CT — The City of Stamford and its ADA Advisory Council will celebrate 35 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with an event on July 23 at Cove Island Beach Park.

A brief program will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a walk in the park.

The ADA was signed into law on July 26, 1990 by President George H.W. Bush.

The law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The law makes sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
