Stamford PD to Fundraise for Off. Strauser, Now Out of Hospital
The Stamford Police Department looks to raise funds to help the family of Officer Troy Strauser, who was injured in the line of duty and was released from Norwalk Hospital Friday.

The Stamford Police Department is asking the public for help raising donations for the family of Officer Troy Strauser, who was injured in the line of duty when he took a dive off a bridge while chasing a fleeing suspect.
Strauser was injured Thursday, May 17, while chasing Frank Douglas across a bridge over I-95 in Norwalk. When they both leapt, Strauser suffered severe injuries when he landed on a concrete divider and then face down on the pavement below.
He was released from Norwalk Hospital Friday afternoon.

"It's true, it's great news," Sgt. Joe Kennedy, President of the Stamford Police Association said. "He was released in the early afternoon. The family wanted to keep it pretty low key and just get Troy out and get him home."
Kennedy said now that he's out, he's got a long road ahead of him and he's facing it head-on.

"[The family was] trying to get everything together as he'll be home for quite a while," Kennedy said. "We'd like to make his situation a whole lot easier. And I know Troy is really looking forward to getting full swing into his rehab."
The Stamford Police Association has set up a donation link on the SPA website, www.stamfordspa.com, to help the family deal with medical bills and incidentals that may come up during Strauser's long road to recovery.
