Stamford Police Announce DUI Checkpoint
If you plan on celebrating the holiday season in Stamford this weekend — you'll probably want to read this.

The Stamford Police Department announced Friday afternoon that it will be conducting a DUI checkpoint late Friday and early Saturday.
From 11p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday, Representatives of MADD CT (Mother Against Drunk Driving) will be partnering with Stamford Police participating in the checkpoint. They will be distributing safety tips for the holidays as well as Uber coupons to promote safe driving during the holiday season.

This DUI checkpoint is one of 13 scheduled checkpoints made possible through a State of Connecticut Grant which the Stamford Police Department was awarded to help reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities from impaired driving through increased high-visibility DUI enforcement activities.
Throughout the year there will also be numerous “roving” details in which officers will be vigilant in their pursuit of impaired or intoxicated drivers.

Police said the checkpoint will be on Bedford Street at Chester Street.
In their announcement, police added, “The Stamford Police Department wants everyone to have happy and safe holidays and encourages safe travels by not drinking and driving- have a designated driver, don’t let an impaired driver drive, don’t get in a car with an impaired driver, use uber or other means of travel. Enjoy your Holidays and remember- Don’t drink and drive.”
