Stamford Police Spot Suspects Feet Hiding in Closet

Police serving a warrant said they discovered a number of narcotics-related items a the residence, and a suspect trying to hide in the closet.

Officers with the Stamford Neighborhood Impact Unit who were serving a warrant Tuesday morning said they discovered the man they were looking for hiding in a closet in the home as well as a number of narcotics-related items, police said later that morning.

Officers were attempting to serve a warrant to Johnson Pavlemon, 32, of 77 Glenbrook Road, Apt. 401, at approximately 2 a.m. but initially, it appeared they were going to be unsuccessful as no one responded to their knocks, according to police.

As officers were walking back to their vehicles, they observed, in the residence where they were attempting to serve the warrant, someone opening a blind partway and peeking out before closing it again quickly.

Police said as they were preparing to leave the premises, a woman arrived saying she'd been at work, but neighbors had informed her police were at the house and she'd left early. She said her cousin was inside watching the children, and police asked for permission to enter the apartment and make sure everything was alright.

Police said the woman consented, but officers found the apartment empty save for the two small boys, ages 7 and 3, asleep in their bedroom. Police said the woman claimed her cousin probably left out another exit point when he saw her pull up.

According to authorities, officers observed evidence of marijuana and the smell of an odor typically associated with the burning of marijuana. Police checked another bedroom and noticed a partially open closet door with a pair of feet sticking out at the bottom.

Police told the man, identified as Pavelmon, to exit the closet. Pavelmon allegedly told police he'd been looking for something in the closet and didn't realize anyone else was in the home.

According to authorities, both parties signed a consent to search. In addition to discovering that both parties had their names listed on the lease for the apartment, a search allegedly turned up approximately 15.2 grams of marijuana, most of it split into smaller Ziploc baggies, a grinder and a digital scale.

Pavlemon was charged with second-degree failure to appear, possession of hallucinogens, sale of a controlled substance, operation of a drug factory and two counts of risk of injury to a child.
