The newest member to be appointed to the Metro North Commuter Council was announced by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to be a Stamford resident and commuter himself for more than 20 years.

John A. Davis, 44, was recently announced as the newest committee member working to help keep Connecticut commuters' lives as easy as possible.

"As a somewhat daily commuter, I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly," Davis said. "I live right in Shippan Point, I've been a member of the association there. I've got two boys so I've been involved in sports and coaching. I would say this is my first governor-appointed position, though."

Davis said he's just happy he might be able to use his experience and expertise to play some small role in keeping his fellow Connecticut residents happy.

"We're still in the early stages, but it's been a great experience," Davis said. "There's a lot going on with the rail system. It's good being so involved and having that insight to offer."

“Not only does John take the train each day to New York, he's also been very dedicated to his community," Representative Gerald Fox III said. "He's always ready to be involved, he's always prepared and he's always willing to listen. That combination of experience is a perfect fit for what we need on the commuter council.”
