Stamford Settles With Grandparents Killed In Christmas Fire

Three girls and their two grandparents from Southbury have won a settlement with the City of Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — The city has settled another lawsuit stemming from a fatal 2011 fire that killed three young girls and their grandparents from Southbury, reports the News Times. In the second civil lawsuit stemming from the fatal Christmas fire, the City of Stamford will pay $1.35 million in the suit filed by Wade Johnson on behalf of parents Pauline and Lomer Johnson of Southbury.

Wade Johnson sued for property damage, personal injury and civil rights violations after city officials knocked down his sister's house the day after the fire, which he said "negligently" destroyed evidence which affected the investigation.

The Johnson's twin 7-year-old granddaughters Sarah and Grace along with 9-year-old granddaughter Lily were killed in the fire.
