STAMFORD, CT — Stamford is warning residents about a phishing scam involving emails pretending to come from the city's "Planning & Zoning Division."

In a Facebook post Wednesday, Stamford said the emails request wire transfers for zoning approvals or permits and may include fake invoices referencing real projects or agendas.

"Please be aware that these emails do not originate from the City of Stamford. If you receive a suspicious email, do not respond or send any payment," the city's Facebook post said.
