Kaster Moving Company Turns 40
Read on for the story behind the owner, Kevin Kaster, and how the company came to be.

From Kaster Moving: It was 40 years ago, a young man from New Canaan, Kevin Kaster, purchased an orange pick-up truck and started a business moving household goods for his neighbors. He was polite and sincere, ambitious and hardworking, and always had the customer’s needs at the forefront. Kevin realized that moving can be an emotional experience and that he was not moving “things” from point A to point B. He was moving families’ pasts, presents, and futures. He learned straight away that people make the difference and he quickly set out on his path to success.
As he continually hired and trained his staff, Kevin began a relationship with Wheaton Van Lines which allowed him to service long distance moves. As the business continued to expand, so did the customer demands, more commercial accounts. All of this ushered in a connection with Atlas Van Lines. In 1995 Kevin became an agent of Atlas, one of the largest interstate movers in the country. This network of over 350 professional movers nationwide enhanced his capability to provide quality moving services to any point in the United States. In addition to the tremendous volume of “residential moves” which were his start, he has enjoyed commercial customers the likes of NBC Sports, IBM, and many other Fortune 500 companies in Fairfield County and the Tri-State area.
Kevin hasn’t been behind the wheel of that orange pick-up truck for decades. Now he’s steering a robust, expansive business - a local and international moving business; two storage facilities; a fleet of over thirty moving vehicles; corporate clientele; various relocation companies and a staff of over 40 full- time employees.

Kevin is still the sole-owner and President of Kaster Moving Company, a Stamford-based company, and Kaster Moving Company is now the most recommended moving company in Fairfield County, relocating families from around the corner, to around the world. He has a simple philosophy – people make the difference and customer needs are always first.
As he built the Kaster business, Kevin never neglected his responsibility to the communities he served. Whether it was hauling gear for summer camp for the Fairfield County Boy Scouts, transporting and storing gear and supplies to Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camp, or delivering decorated Christmas trees to purchasers at the annual Waveny charity sale, and food banks. Kevin has exemplified a humanitarian role throughout his success. He is an avid golfer, plays in and manages a local softball team he has sponsored and is an enthusiastic sports fan.
