Teen Charged After Fatal Crash Involving Man On A Scooter, Stamford Police Say

A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with the fatal crash involving a car and a scooter, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a fatal crash involving a man, who was riding a scooter at the time, police said Saturday.

The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad completed its investigation into a fatal motor vehicle vs. scooter collision that occurred in the 100 block of Hope Street at 10:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.

A 2011 BMW was traveling northbound on Hope Street and collided with a person riding a stand-up scooter who was also traveling northbound on Hope Street, police said. The impact caused the scooter operator, a 46-year-old Stamford resident, to be thrown from his scooter onto the roadway, police said. The scooter was heavily damaged and broken into several pieces.

The scooter operator, Christian Dinamarca, was taken to Stamford Hospital with serious injuries and he later died at the hospital on June 11, police said.

"Based on the investigation, the operator of the vehicle that struck Mr. Dinamarca was arrested on Saturday, September 27, 2025," police said in a news release. "The operator, a 17-year-old Stamford resident, surrendered at Stamford Police Headquarters after an arrest warrant had been completed and signed. The operator was charged, via warrant, with Negligent Homicide with a Motor Vehicle and Evading Responsibility. The operator posted a $100,000 surety bond and was released. The Stamford Police Department is not releasing the name of the operator at this time due to his age."
