Thunderstorm Warning for Connecticut Includes 60 MPH Winds, Hail

The storm was last seen near Danbury and is traveling southeast at 25 mph; the warning has lengthened until 2:30pm.

The national weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County in Southern Connecticut, including Stamford, until 1:45 p.m.

The advisory states that this severe thunderstorm is “capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was located near Danbury and moving southeast at 25 mph” about 12:52 p.m.

“This is a dangerous storm,” reads the warning. “If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.”
