"This is one of the largest annual Stamford events featuring heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic affecting all roads south of Route 1 from Canal Street to Elm Street/Cove Road," police said on Facebook. "It is recommended that spectators plan to arrive early as traffic delays are inevitable."
Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m., and residents will be able to bring blankets and chairs to the beach. There will be food trucks on-site, and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9 p.m.
Pedestrians attending the fireworks are reminded not to walk on the roads and to use sidewalks when going to and from Cummings and West Beach, police said. It is recommended that pedestrians wear bright clothing and parents keep an eye on small children.

Post-Fireworks Traffic
Just prior to the conclusion of the fireworks display, two-way traffic will be suspended on Elm Street, Cove Road and south on Magee Avenue to the intersections of Shippan Avenue, police said.
There will be two lanes of northbound traffic on these streets until the beach is cleared.
Residents in this area will encounter delays in getting to their homes for approximately one hour or until traffic has cleared from the Cummings and West Beach area and should plan accordingly, police said. Residents who are planning on picking up family members in the beach area should also plan for delays.
Motorists are reminded there will be a significant amount of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the Cummings and West Beach area prior to and after the event, and are asked to exercise extreme caution while traveling through this area.
