United Jewish Federation To Celebrate 75 Years Of Israel

A week-long series of events is planned in Stamford.

United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien (UJF) will host a week of exciting activities to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Israel, April 19th through April 26th. With a theme of “Beyond the Dream: Finding Yourself in the Israeli Mosaic “, the festivities promise something for everyone.

“I am thrilled that Federation can convene the community on Israel’s milestone birthday. It shows the strength of our community when we all work together,” said UJF CEO, Diane Sloyer. “We are planning a variety of events during the week to appeal to everyone as we ramp up to the big Israel Independence Day Festival on Wednesday, April 26.

  • Wednesday, April 19 at 7:00 pm: Israeli Art Show opening
  • Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 pm: Teen Event with Israeli dancing, pita-making, and an Israeli BBQ dinner
  • Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 pm experience the “art of movement" with Israeli Dance Teacher Leng
  • Friday, April 21 at 4:30 pm: Pre Shabbat-Tot Kabbalat Shabbat for kids and families
  • Friday, April 21 at 7:00 pm: Mediterranean Musical Oneg Shabbat
  • Saturday, April 22 at 9:00 pm: UJF NextGen group will celebrate Israel@75 with a party
  • Sunday, April 23 at 11:00 am: Enjoy a breakfast and screening of the Israeli film, Wasserman the Rain Man
  • Sunday April 23 at 7:00 pm: Join Instagram sensation, baker, and author Chaya Rappaport
  • Tuesday, April 25 at 12:00 pm: Join Rabbi Daniel Cohen for a Torah perspective on Israel@75
  • Tuesday, April 25 at 7:00 pm: Meaningful and moving ceremony marking Israeli Memorial Day which changes to Israeli Independence Day at sundown
  • Wednesday, April 26 at 5:30 pm: Israel Independence Day Celebration. Festivities include a camel ride for children, bounce houses, contests, music, dancing, and so much more! Adult programming continues at 7:00 pm
