White House Fence Jumper Barred from College: Report

The lawyer for the Stamford man arrested after he jumped the White House fence Thanksgiving Day is trying to arrange return to classes.


The lawyer for the Stamford man accused of jumping the White House fence on Thanksgiving Day has said his client has been barred from attending classes at the University of Bridgeport where he is studying criminal justice and martial arts.

Attorney Stephan Seeger told The Advocate that when “Joseph Caputo opened his email Tuesday afternoon to find a message from a university official declaring him “persona non grata.””

Caputo reportedly returned to Stamford where he lives with his mother after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawful entry to restricted grounds. Caputo was arrested after he jumped the spiked fence, cloaked in an American flag and clenching a binder between his teeth. The binder reportedly contained a rewritten Constitution.

Caputo has been ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and not to return to Washington.
