A Couple Municipal Meetings and Lots of Music and Theatre this Week

Lots to do this week, here's a quick look.

Municipal

Many meetings have been cancelled, such as the Board of Finance, Retirement Board, Affordable Housing Committee, and the Board of Education. However, on Monday the 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development Subcommittee will meet at 7 p.m. at the police station; on Thursday the Bd. of Police Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. at the police station, and the Old Mystic Fire District Bd. of Directors will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 295 Cow Hill Road.

Monday: The Dog Days of Summer at the Mystic Aquarium. Aquarium admission allows guests to join programs with animal handlers and their finned or four-legged partners.

Tuesday: The Colonial Theatre presents Shakespeare’s comedy “The Taming of the Shrew” during this 22nd season of Free Shakespeare in Westerly’s Wilcox Park. This family friendly comedy begins at 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. The shows are outdoors so fingers crossed for good weather!

Wednesday: There’s another Kidsploration Concert at the Mystic Aquarium. Performances in the Foxwoods Marine Theatre start at 2:30pm and are FREE with your admission. Steve Elci and Friends will open and then Miss Amy is the featured artist this week. 

And here's a bonus tip for all you War of 1812 fans  - author and professor Glenn Gordinier will present an illustrated talk on Mystic and the War of 1812 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mystic and Noank Library. The talk will go over how that war relates to Connecticut and to the Mystic River Valley.

Thursday: Rewind is the featured band at tonight’s concert at Esker Point. Show starts at 6 p.m., bring your own blanket.

Friday: The Donahue Park Summer Concert is tonight! Sugar opens at 6:30 followed by Voyage, “the world’s best” Journey tribute band. Their lead singer, Huga is “an absolute dead ringer” for Steve Perry.

Saturday: The Finer Line Gallery in Downtown Mystic will host Paint Misbehavin’ tonight and tomorrow night. Participants will complete a painting in 2 hours with step by step instructions by qualified artists while sipping their favorite drink (byob optional) and listening to great music.
