Five things to know about on Thursday, Sept. 12.
- Today’s going be a little cooler than yesterday. The National Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny, with a high near 78 and tonight there’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.
- Thursday’s muni meetings: Bd. of Police Commissioners meets at 5 p.m. at the police station; the Bd. of Education meets at 7 p.m. at Stonington High School Commons; Economic Dev. Comm. Meets at 7 p.m. in the Human Services Building on South Broad Street; Old Mystic Fire District Bd. of Directors meets at 7:30 p.m. at 295 Cow Hill Road.
- There are two Cub Scout Joining Meetings tonight. Cub Scout Pack 34 will be hosting a Scout Joining Night for boys 6 - 10 years old at the S. B. Butler School tonight at 6 and Cub Scout Pack 37, invites boys in grads 1 to 5 to find out more info about joining. The meeting will be at the Stonington COMO Annex at 45 Cutler Street at 6:15 p.m.
- Conor Grennan, author of "Little Princes" will be at Fitch High School tonight at 7 p.m. Bank Square Books will be there with books for signing.
- And in continuing on the nostalgic note, you better hurry down to the Emporium. They posted on Facebook that they might be asked to vacate before the end of the month…”we will be open an extra day this week on Friday from noon to 5 pm as well as Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-5 with display case SUPER-SALES and more as we discover our fate....thanks to all for coming in and showing your support and shopping”
