Beloved Mystic Opossum Passes Away
Mr. Wiggles lived at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. He was hand-raised by Lori Edwards after a car accident killed his mother.
Mr. Wiggles the Opossum was a much-loved member of the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center community. He arrived to the nature center in July 2014, the sole survivor of a car accident that killed his mother and siblings.
Our educator Lori [Edwards] hand raised him, feeding him formula drop by drop every two hours around the clock,” the DPNC staff said via Facebook.
Staff shared the sad news of Mr. Wiggles’ passing on Monday, Nov. 30.

“He enjoyed pizza and sushi and was featured on Better Connecticut with Scot Haney,” staff said.
Through his presence at the nature center and opossum knowledge he gave, staff successfully hand-raised two orphan opossums named Olivia and Oliver, who were released into the wild.
“Mr. Wiggles lived a good life, and he educated folks and made friends all over,” the DPNC staff wrote. “He will be missed by everyone at DPNC, and our thoughts and hugs are with Lori right now.”
