COMO Partners with School of Mystic Ballet

The community center has partnered with the dance school to offer classes to young dancers.

The Stonington Community Center has recently partnered with the School of Mystic Ballet to offer a brand new dance program for young dancers. Classes will be held at the School of Mystic Ballet's premier facility, an academy that has long been dedicated to training students contemporary and classical techniques while fostering an appreciation for creativity and expression. Admission is on a rolling basis. 

According to the COMO's website the classes are:

Rhythm and Movement is offered to ages 3 1/2 - 5 years old. This class is designed to teach coordination, large motor skill development, listening skills, musical and spatial awareness while exposing students to a large repertoire of musical scores to enhance children's creativity. The class is on Tuesdays 4:00 - 4:45 pm or Thursdays 5:10 - 6:00 pm. The Cost is $175 a trimester.

Creative Dance is offered to ages 5 - 6 years old on Tuesdays 5:00 - 5:50 pm or Thursdays 4:10 - 5:00 pm. The class teaches appropriate skill development, creative expression, music appreciation, and the relationship between music and dance. Primary classes combine elements of ballet and floor gymnastics, expanding students physical skills – muscle development, coordination, balance, grace and poise. Students attain independence and confidence, learn to interact with others, build a positive self image, and gain motivation as well as self-discipline, that can be carried throughout a lifetime.
