CT Beer Trail Abuzz About Smartphone App

Beer'd and Cottrell are part of the CT Beer Trail and if you want to journey onward, Beerdog is a new app that can help!

If you’re just hearing about the CT Beer Trail or maybe your just deciding that the beer trail would be a good route to take, you can take your very first steps by opening up the app on your smartphone.

Obviously your journey doesn’t begin until you take your first sip, and two Stonington breweries are ready to make that happen. Cottrell in Pawcatuck and Stonington’s newest brewery, Beer’d, are a part of the beer trail if you want to know what people are saying about their beers just download a new app called, Beerdog.

Beerdog was launched last week and it uses image recognition of beer labels that you photograph and lets you earn points toward bragging rights. According to reports, microbrews and craft beers, like those you’ll find  at Cottrell and Beer’d will gain you more points than a commercial brand like Bud Light for instance.

Ctnewsjunkie.com says the app was developed in Connecticut.

The app’s developer Kevin Bradshaw told reporters that app users should be able to find every beer made in the state of Connecticut and every place that sells it. You should also be able to find some beer buddies with the app.

Bradshaw said, “And it’s not just for people in Connecticut, the idea is that you can message in real time anyone drinking a beer through the App and encourage them to come to this state.”

Beerdog is available in the iTunes app store.
