Daily Five: Perry Family Fundraiser

Plus, today's (cold) weather, Crewcuts and Curls has moved, United Way thanks local businesses and now you can Buy/Sell/Trade on Patch

1. Raise your hand if you are sick of being cold. Me too. Our friends at the National Weather Service don't have good news for us when it comes to temps.

  • Today: Sunny, with a high near 46. Northwest wind 7 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
  • Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph.
2. There is a fundraiser Saturday for the parents of the two little boys who were kidnapped and murdered by their grandmother in February. A 'cut-a-thon' at Studio A Hair Salon in Pawcatuck will be from 9 am., to 3 p.m., to benefit the Perry family. Receive a FREE haircut on Saturday with any donation. Mango's Wood-Fired Pizza Co. has gift certificates to give away as well. Every donation will also enter you for a chance to win one of four gift certificates to Mango's.

3. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut hosted its Campaign Celebration event on March 28 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa to recognize local businesses and volunteers that helped to raise $5,720,590. A number of Stonington businesses were recognized.

4. Crewcuts and Curls has left town! The hair salon for boys and girls (and their parents) moved from 35D Williams Ave., Mystic to 391 Norwich-Westerly Road (Route 2) in North Stonington about a month ago.

5. Do you something to sell or trade and you just don't want to deal with craigslist? The 'new' Patch has a Buy/Sell/Trade area that puts you in touch with your neighbors, not total strangers! Check it out!
