John and Eleni Yanouzas planned to spend their retirement years together in the home that John says the couple "lovingly built." However, their lives took a turn when Eleni fell ill and was hospitalized. Kelly Krauchick, an FCP Live-In care coordinator, was contacted about caregiving services for Eleni when she returned home.
"Our services enrich our clients' lives who need care and help them to remain where they want to be: In their home," says Kellie.

It didn't take long for John and Eleni to establish a good relationship with Ebbonie, the agency's live-in caregiver, a certified nursing assistant. The couple's daughter, Georgette, who visited and helped out her parents, also became close with Ebbonie.
With the support she needed around her, Eleni was able to spend quality time with John and enjoyed listening to music and watching TV. Eleni's health rapidly declined not too long after returning home from the hospital, and she was eventually placed in hospice care at home. Sadly, Eleni passed away in February 2021.

John found himself alone after Eleni died. But John, who also had health concerns, wanted to remain in his home. John was not alone for too long because his family thought it would be an excellent idea to retain FCP Live-In's caregiving services.
"FCP has sent into our home an angel named Ebbonie," John said. "This year, I became a widower who wished to stay home, and when Ebbonie arrived to live in, she made this possible through her excellent care and upbeat personality. Ebbonie fills the house with the delicious aromas of her cooking and brightens my days with her smiles and joyful energy."
FCP Live-In caregivers provide essential personal care and build strong relationships with their clients, just as Ebbonie did with the Yanouzas Family.
"Ebbonie and John have connected and bonded during this time," says FCP Live-In Field Supervisor Ashley Ross. "Ebbonie provides companionship and assists John with anything he may need. John is also very close with his daughter, Georgette. John, Georgette, and Ebbonie spend a lot of time together, and Ebbonie has quickly become part of the family. They go on shopping trips, out for meals, and support one another.

FCP Live-In Helps Seniors Age in Place
FCP Live-In is not an assistant living facility, but is first and foremost, a leading live-in care provider. With a professional caregiver to live with them and provide 1-on-1 personal care, seniors do not have to fret over the possibility of moving from the place they have called "home" for many years and into a nursing home or assisted living facility.
Researchers have long observed that moving seniors away from their home and community and into a long-term care facility can bring on "relocation stress syndrome." The condition is characterized by symptoms such as anxiety, confusion, hopelessness, and loneliness.
For many seniors, aging in place is not an option unless they have someone to help them with their daily living activities. Not all older adults have adult children or other relatives or friends living nearby to help them. FCP Live-In steps in when the plans of seniors who want to stay home are in jeopardy.
By having a live-in caregiver, seniors have the support they need to maintain their independence. FCP Live-In caregivers, for instance, help their clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring from a bed to a wheelchair.
What's more, live-in caregivers help out around the house by doing laundry, preparing nutritious meals, grocery shopping, dusting, and other light housekeeping chores. Caregivers also provide transportation to doctor appointments, remind their clients when to take their medications, and provide something that many seniors long for—companionship.
Overall, the assistance offered by FCP Live-In caregivers gives clients a sense of security and comfort in their own homes.
"The one challenge that families and their loved ones always mention is that they don't want to leave their home, their spouse, and their memories," says Andrea Maroto, FCP Live-In's Regional Sales Manager. "I think it's wonderful that seniors can stay home and get the care they deserve and need while not losing what is most important to them: family, friends, and the special place they call home."
FCP Live-In Caregivers Make The Difference In Clients' Lives
FCP Live-In caregivers have excellent communication skills and relevant experience in senior care. Our caregivers are certified nursing assistants, home health aides, or personal care assistants with two or more years of professional experience. Additionally, each caregiver is thoroughly vetted before the agency offers employment with state and federal background checks.
At FCP Live-In, all of our staff work together to form a 24/7 professional support system for seniors, their families, and caregivers. What's more, our live-in caregivers continue to sharpen their skills through ongoing training to meet our clients' needs successfully.
Our caregivers compassionately care for people with various health conditions, including heart disease, Parkinson's disease, amputation, and diabetes. We also provide dementia care, hospice care, and end-of-life care—all in the comfort of our clients' homes.
FCP Live-In is all about caring for people, according to FCP Live-In CEO David Anthony, who founded the company in 1997.
"I founded this company because the options are limited when it comes to caring for a loved one," David explained. "Right now, you either have a home health aide who comes to the home for a few hours, or a loved one needs to go into an assisted living facility. But what if you take the best of both? An insured and bonded live-in caregiver that provides 1-on-1 care stays in the home and is there 24/7. That's where FCP Live-In comes in."
John Yanouzas is grateful that FCP Live-In's services allow him to stay in his home and know that he is well taken care of by his caregiver, Ebbonie. "Ebbonie helps me stick to my medications and my exercise routine," John said. "I can trust my well-being to Ebbonie."
