Old Mystic Firefighters Push For Tax Abatement For First Responders
The department is asking residents to support tax abatement for first responders at town meeting next month.
STONINGTON, CT — The Old Mystic Fire Department is asking residents to support a proposed tax abatement for first responders in Stonington.
"Our volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel dedicate their time and skills to protect our community, often at personal sacrifice," the Old Mystic Fire Department wrote on Facebook. "This abatement is a meaningful way to recognize their service, ease financial burdens, and help recruit and retain the dedicated individuals we rely on in emergencies. Supporting those who support us is not just fair — it strengthens the safety and resilience of Stonington as a whole."
Town Meeting will be held at Stonington High School on June 16 at 7 p.m.
