Repairs Being Made At Small Boat Assn. Launch

Repairs are well underway at the Stonington Small Boat Association launch. The beach and boat ramp were badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy last year.

According to the SSBA website, total cost for repairs was more than $11,000.

"As SSBA is on town property quick action by Joe Bragaw, Stonington’s Director of Public Works, placed the damage on the FEMA list. The ruined ramp was removed and then replaced. Cost was in excess of $11,000 which would have cleaned out our treasury if we had to finance the repair," the group wrote on its website.

A one-time fee of $20 was added this year to the annual $25 storage fee to also help offset the costs.

Work is expected to be finished soon, the website says.
