St. Michael’s Reviews Plans of New Church
Parishioners will be reviewing the plans for a new church and deciding what features they want.

Parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel, a church that was closed last April, have a plan for a bigger and better church of their own and faith that they can raise the $12 million needed to build it.
Members of the congregation met with architects Friday to review renderings of their design, which is mostly based on the old church, according to a report in the Westerly Sun, which said that the new design however, has room for about 75 more people and a whole lot more.
The Westerly Sun reported that architects were asked to provide more seats, wider aisles, more space between pews, create a larger parish hall with a more inviting entryway, and maintain its orientation toward the east, a drop-off entrance at the front and to retain elements of the old church such as stained glass, light fixtures, and statues.

Now the parish needs to prioritize and choose which features they can pay for.
Architect Brett Donham said to Westerly Sun reporters, “It is not money that builds a church, it’s faith. If our faith is there, the money will come.”
