If you have been in the market for a portly beagle, this is your lucky day.
If you've been shopping for a young, gorgeous, energetic and friendly pit bull, we have great news for you.
Stonington Animal Control has both a portly beagle and an energetic brindle pit bull for adoption.
Brandy is the pit and she is big and beautiful and strong. Animal Control Officer Rae Jean Davis estimates her age between 2 and 3. She is likely not spayed. Brandy was picked up Feb. 16 roaming in the area of the Stillman Avenue bridge. She was in the neighborhood for about four days before Davis captured her.
She is friendly and strong and definitely needs a family with older children (just because Brandy would likely knock down small kids with her energy) and no cats. She would be best off as the only dog, as she had one failed adoption because she did not bond with the other dog.
Davis said Brandy definitely needs help learning house manners, and would prefer someone with breed experience and the willingness to really exercise this girl. "She has a lot of energy but she is very good," Davis said.
Henry is a senior dog, a beagle mix who definitely could stand to lose a few pounds. He was picked up March 28 in a parking lot near the police station. He has been neutured and has lots of energy.
"He has a great personality," Davis said. "He is active despite being older. He has not gotten tired on any of our walks." He has not been cat-tested but seems good with kids and other dogs.
