Stonington PD Warns Residents of Telephone Scam
The police department offered its assistance to those who receive the scam calls.

The Stonington Police Department is reminding residents and businesses to be cautious, as at least one local has received a scam phone call asking for money.
According to the release on the town website, scammers tell the victims that one of their relatives is out of the country and needs money. The caller then asks for money to be wired to a specific location.
Captain Jerry Desmond told residents that the police department will assist residents who receive a suspicious phone call and would like the caller's claims to be verified.
