Stonington Teen Creates Scholarship With NASCAR Winnings
David Garbo, Jr. created a scholarship to The Forman School.

David Garbo, Jr., a sixteen-year-old from Stonington, isn’t your average teenager.
Garbo attends The Forman School in Litchfield, which serves students diagnosed with dyslexia and other learning disorders. It also affords him a flexible schedule to pursue a career in stock car racing, which he’s doing quite well at.
So well in fact, the 16-year-old put his prize money toward a $10,000 scholarship to The Forman School for other students like himself, according to a report in The Day newspaper. Garbo also plans to donate the winnings from the rest of his 2013 races to the fund.
According to the report, Garbo's scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been diagnosed with dyslexia, a passion for sports and a financial need. Garbo told reporters at The Day that the school has helped him overcome dyslexia and “this would be a way to give back.”
