Story Time, Halloween Costume Swap or Drop, and the History of the Flo Gris
Not five but six things to know about today, Tuesday September 10.
- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75 and tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 68 according to the National Weather Service.
- The Housing Authority meets at 4 p.m.; Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7 p.m. at the police station.
- There is a drop in story time at the Stonington Free Library babies-2 years old will enjoy stories, songs, finger plays, and a chance to meet and play with other kids! Children ages 3-6 will enjoy stories, songs, finger plays, and a craft time!
- There’s a Halloween costume swap or drop at the Stonington Free Library where they will collect children's Halloween costumes from Sept. 9-Sept. 28. All costumes MUST be CLEAN, COMPLETE, and on a hanger with size marked, with a plastic (grocery store style) bag attached! They will have FREE shopping from Sept. 30-Oct. 5. Any leftover costumes will be donated. Call the Library at 860-535-0658 with any questions.
- At 5:30 p.m., the Chamber staff and fellow members invite you to mingle, eat and network on Parade Plaza with Suisman Shapiro Attorneys-At-Law and A Thyme to Cook. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, and soft drinks will be served and there will also be live music.
- David Rau, Director of Education and Outreach will discuss the history and continuing legacy of the Florence Griswold Museum. He will discuss how Lyme attracted a flourishing colony of artists that painted in the Tonal Impressionism style and then evolved to make the site the “Home of American Impressionism.” With artists such as Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf and William Chadwick, the Museum’s reputation and collection is known world-wide. A question and answer period will follow the formal presentation, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Waterford Public Library.
