Town Of Stonington 2013 Summer Job Opportunities
Apply by April 1 for playground camp job, tennis instructors, elementary-level teachers.

The town is taking applications for a variety of summer jobs to staff the Human Services Department's summer programs.
Applications are available from the Administrative Services Department at Town Hall (or you can download the attached pdf). Applications will be accepted until April 1, and they cannot be faxed or emailed. Former employees must fill out the 2013 application.

PLAYGROUND SUPERVISOR
This position requires a self-motivated creative team player to provide on-site administration for the Recreation Division’s morning Playground Program and the Youth & Family Services breakfast, lunch and afternoon Enrichment Program during the summer camp season. The program begins on June 19, 2013 and ends on August 16, 2013. 35-38hrs/wk; 7-8hrs/day; M-F. This position includes additional hours prior to the start of the camp season for program preparation and daily curriculum development, as well as a mandatory training on June 8, 2013. Experience developing thematic curriculum and working with elementary youth required. Bachelors Degree preferred. Minimum of 2 yrs supervisory experience is required. Red Cross CPR Certification desired. Minimum age of 21yrs. Criminal Background check required. Please submit three letters of reference with application. The hourly range is: $15.50-$18.50/hr based upon experience.

PLAYGROUND COUNSELOR
Motivated, high energy team players who enjoy working with youth are encouraged to join our team! The camp program begins on June 19, 2013 and ends August 16, 2013. 20-35hrs/wk; 4-7hrs/day; M-F, including a mandatory training on June 8, 2013. Duties include: supervise and engage children; lead activities; and serve as a role model. Must have experience working with elementary age children. Minimum age of 16 yrs. Criminal background check required. A teacher reference is required with application. The hourly range is: $8.25-12.50/hr. based upon experience. Breakfast and lunch included for Counselors age 18 and under.
PLAYGROUND JUNIOR COUNSELORS
High school students with an interest in gaining experience working with youth are needed! The camp program begins on June 19, 2013 and ends August 16, 2013. 9-12hrs/wk; 3-4hrs/day days per week. This stipend position is designed to identify potential future Playground Counselors. Minimum age of 15yrs. A teacher reference is required with application. Breakfast and lunch included, dependent upon assigned shift. A stipend of $375.00-$425.00 will be paid at the end of the program.
CERTIFIED ELEMENTARY TEACHERS
Certified teachers, interested in designing fun, interactive and age-specific summer curriculum, are needed for the Afternoon Enrichment component of the Department’s summer camp experience. The camp program begins on June 19, 2013 and ends August 16, 2013. Positions are available for: 4-16hrs/wk; 4hrs/day. A minimum of 2 years experience as a specialty instructor for language arts, math, science, art or music are needed. Must submit CT Elementary Certification for Grades K-6 with application. Criminal Background Check required. The hourly rate is: $20-25/hr. based upon experience.
GROUNDS MAINTENANCE CREW
Experienced self-motivated maintenance staff needed for summer field and playground maintenance. Positions include: 20-35hrs/wk; 4-7 hrs/day, M-F; begin on May 1, 2013 and end August 31, 2013. Qualified applicants must be a minimum of 18 yrs old and demonstrate the ability to operate tractors, mowers and hand tools. Criminal Background check required. The hourly rate is: $8.50-$10.50/hr. based upon experience.
THEATRE INSTRUCTOR
A theatre instructor with experience working with youth, grades 1-6, is needed to develop curriculum and lead small groups of students in the afternoon Enrichment Program component of the Department’s summer camp experience. The camp program begins on June 19, 2013 and ends August 16, 2013. Positions are available for: 4-8 hrs/wk; 4 hrs/day. An instructor is also needed to facilitate the summer middle school theatre program. The middle school position includes a one week commitment: August 12-16, 2013; 9AM-1PM. A minimum of 2 years experience working with youth grades 1-6, and an understanding of respective developmental academic milestones, is required for the afternoon Enrichment position. Criminal Background Check required. The hourly rate is: $20-$25/hr. based upon experience.
TENNIS COORDINATOR
An experienced tennis instructor is needed to administer, develop curriculum and lead small groups of youth tennis players in beginner and advanced clinics, for youth ages 8-14. The position includes: 2 days/wk - M & W; mornings; 2 ½ hrs/day; begins June 24, 2013 and ends July 31, 2013. Minimum of 2 years experience working with youth tennis players. Criminal Background Check required. The hourly rate is: $12.25-$18.25/hr. based upon experience.
TENNIS INSTRUCTOR
Experienced tennis players are needed to assist and lead small groups of youth tennis players in beginner and advanced clinics. The position includes: 2 days/wk - M & W mornings; 2½ hrs/day; begins June 24, 2013 and ends July 31, 2013. A minimum of 2 years experience working with youth tennis players is required. Criminal Background Check required. The hourly rate is: $8.25-$10.25/hr. based upon experience.
