Trivia Tonight, Mystic’s Iron Chef Competition Tomorrow, Cocktails and Concerts too!
Five things to know on Thursday, August 15.
- If you thought yesterday was nice then you'll like today. The National Weather Service says today will be sunny, with a high near 77 and tonight will be clear, with a low around 55.
- The Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality is hosting its 7th annual "Iron Chef" Competition & Auction for Action. This year’s event features executive chefs from Foxwoods and Mohegan who will go head to head in a culinary battle. The event raises funds to support local families with children facing homelessness. For this year’s event takes place at St. Edmund’s Retreat at Enders Island on Friday, August 16th from 6 to 10pm. The chef competition begins promptly at 6:30pm.
- Are you yearning to show the world how smart you are? Come down to Margarita’s and show them what you've got! Trivia begins in the lounge at 9pm.
- Don’t forget, this Sunday Donavon Frankenreiter is performing at the Jonathan Edward Winery. Frankenreiter’s music is described as “soft-bluesy” and “the laid back sounds and soulful crooning of this Hawaiian native are likened to his long time friend and collaborator Jack Johnson.”
- Tomorrow’s the last Cocktails with the Whales event of the season at the Mystic Aquarium. People are invited to enjoy some signature cocktails and appetizers while strolling around the aquarium and visiting belugas Juno and pals. They will swim elegantly by as you bask in their glory and they will pose for photos. They may possibly make fun of your outfit and flirt with your girlfriend but you'll feel honored nonetheless that they acknowledged your presence.
