Work to restore duBois Beach began Tuesday.
The beach suffered damage in Hurricane Sandy last October. The Stonington Village Improvement Association is spending $10,000 to rebuild the beach and replace damaged decking by the Pavilion.
Chris Drake of Seaport Construction in Noank said Tuesday morning they were waiting for final sign off from the state to begin digging the sand out from the water and off the rocks.
He said the work should take 3-5 days as they can only do it during low tide. When they are done a second contractor will regrade the beach and replace the decking.
The beach opens for the season Memorial Day weekend.
