Roof Fire Extinguished At Business In Stratford: Officials
The occupants evacuated the business while crews extinguished the fire.
STRATFORD, CT — Crews extinguished a roof fire at a business in Stratford on Monday afternoon, officials said in an update.
A 911 call reported a fire on the roof at 80 Century Drive around 4:15 p.m., according to a news release from Stratford Fire Chief Jermaine B. Atkinson.
Atkinson said that under the direction of Assistant Chief Steven Alesevich, a crew of 22 firefighters responded and quickly found the “source of the fire and aggressively worked to contain the fire to the rooftop unit affected.”

The occupants of the business evacuated and there were no injuries reported, according to Atkinson.
“Station coverage was provided by the Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments while all on duty units extinguished the fire,” Atkinson wrote in the news release. “Stratford EMS also was on scene for support.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stratford Fire Marshals office.
“The Stratford Fire department would like to remind our residents to have working smoke detectors, store lithium ion batteries in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, regularly practice an escape plan for residential homes, commercial occupancies and call 911 immediately upon observation of smoke or fire,” Atkinson wrote.
