Driver, 92, Found Dead In Submerged Car In Stratford: Police
Police responded to a report of a car that had driven down a boat launch into the water and started to submerge, according to officials.
STRATFORD, CT — A 92-year-old driver was found dead in a submerged car Wednesday afternoon in Stratford, according to police.
Police responded around 1:30 p.m. on May 7 to the Birdseye Ramp regarding an occupied car that had driven down a boat launch into the water and started to submerge, according to Capt. Robert Burroughs.
Burroughs said the arriving officer saw a gray vehicle submerged underwater.

“With swift assistance from the Stratford Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Fairfield Police Department’s Dive Team, they confirmed that there was a male individual in the driver's seat of the vehicle submerged underwater,” Burroughs wrote in a news release.
After extracting the vehicle from the water, Burroughs said a dead man was later identified as a 92-year-old Stratford resident.

Police are investigating to determine what led to the car being submerged, according to Burroughs.
